Blend your contact code into the card, no white patch
A transparent background lets your contact code merge into the business-card design instead of floating in an obvious white square, printing only the dark modules over your colour or texture. The vCard data — name, phone, email and the rest — is encoded identically; transparency only strips the backdrop from the exported image.
The complication unique to vCard is density. This code packs a whole contact record into the pattern, so its gaps are fine, and fine gaps are what a coloured or textured background swallows first. Transparency and a data-heavy code pull against each other, which is why the surface behind matters even more than for a simple link.
A dense vCard needs a genuinely light background
Scanners depend on contrast between dark modules and light gaps. Because the vCard grid is fine, its gaps are narrow, and over anything but a pale, plain surface those narrow gaps blur into the background and the code stops reading.
Print the code over a light zone of the card — a white or pale panel in your layout — rather than straight onto a dark or richly coloured stock. You keep the integrated look while giving the dense pattern the clean background it can't do without.
Trim fields so transparency has room to work
The vCard stores firstName, lastName, phone, email, org, title and url. Fill every one and the grid gets finer and the gaps tighter, making a transparent placement over any background even riskier.
